As we know Japanese used vehicles are famous all over the world and people prefer buying Japanese Vehicles. Japanese vehicles are sent to Auction Houses where these auction houses inspect and give these vehicles a grade according to the JASO (Japanese Automotive Standard Organization). Each car has a grade and every grade specifies the condition of the vehicle. The grade of the vehicle is mentioned in its auction sheet.
The Grading system is further described as:
- Grade S
Grade S is said to be the newest vehicle. It is very rarely found in the Auction. Grade S vehicles are the ones that are less than a year from the date of their registration. It is an accidental and damage-free vehicle with no spots or dents on it. The complete vehicle is said to be new.
- Grade 6
The vehicles which have registration from 1 year to three years are known as Grade 6 vehicles. You can barely see any scratch on it and they have low mileage of 10,000km to a max of 30,000km only.
- Grade 5
Grade 5 vehicles are the ones that have a mileage of 50,000km and have minor scratches or dents on them. The engine and the body of these vehicles need no repair.
- Grade 4.5
It is one of the most demanded Grade and has a mileage of 100,000km. Grade 4.5 have a bit of scratch or dents on it but the engine doesn’t need any repair.
- Grade 4
Grade 4 vehicles are not been in any accidents but they have some dents or scratches. The odometer shows up to 150,000km. It is one of the most desired vehicles. The overall condition of grade 4 vehicles looks good and ready to drive.
- Grade 3.5
These vehicles have visible scratches and dents on the interior and exterior as well. You can also see tears, and stains in the interior of Grade 3.5 vehicles with high mileage too.
- Grade 3
The engine of these vehicles is not in good condition and may need repair too. The interior and exterior seem to be quite imperfect and rusty, seats are discolored and have many stains on them. The mileage recorded on the odometer is high as well.
- Grade 2
Vehicles in extremely bad conditions are categorized as grade 2 vehicles. It has high mileage and a number of dents and corrosion. The engines of these vehicles are mostly repaired or replaced.
- Grade RA
Grade RA vehicles are the ones that have been into accidents and have been repaired.
- Grade R
Grade R vehicles are the ones that have gone through a severe crash. It is repaired and might need more repair. Its body parts and engine needs to be replaced too.

These vehicles are accidental and in very terrible condition.
